Sunrise Foods appreciates the thorough review conducted by federal and state regulatory agencies and welcomes this important milestone for the Alabo Street Wharf Organic Transloading Facility.
With all required federal approvals now received, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Section 10 and Section 408 authorizations and completion of the Section 106 review process, Sunrise Foods is prepared to move forward with the remaining construction of the facility in anticipation of beginning operations within the next six months.
“The federal approval of the Sunrise Foods project marks an important step forward in bringing this operation online,” said Loren Marino, Chief of Staff and External Affairs, Port of New Orleans. “As Sunrise Foods completes the remaining construction and moves toward operations, the project will strengthen Port NOLA’s role in the organic food supply chain, support local economic activity, and contribute to the region’s role as a gateway for the efficient movement of organic agricultural products from global markets to communities and consumers across the United States.”
As construction activities continue, Sunrise Foods remains committed to moving the project forward responsibly and to being a long-term partner to both the Port of New Orleans and the surrounding community. We appreciate the opportunity to become part of this community and look forward to continuing to earn its trust as the facility moves toward operations.
