Sunrise Foods remains committed to operating as a responsible, long-term partner to the Port of New Orleans, the State of Louisiana, and our neighbors in the Lower Ninth Ward and Holy Cross.
Construction & Infrastructure Progress:
Activity at the Alabo Street Wharf continues in full alignment with our current permitting status and all applicable regulatory requirements. Maintenance within the existing shed is approximately 75% complete, including building envelope repairs.
Regulatory Engagement:
Sunrise Foods continues to navigate the regulatory review process. We are proceeding in strict compliance with all procedures required by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other relevant authorities to ensure future operations meet established safety and environmental standards.
Environmental Accountability & Community Air Quality Monitoring:
In the coming weeks, Sunrise Foods will formally introduce its Community Air Quality Monitoring Program. This voluntary initiative will provide public access to air-quality data related to our operations. The launch of this program reflects our commitment to transparency and accountability.
Community Collaboration:
We continue to maintain open lines of communication with community members and local stakeholders engaged in constructive dialogue. These ongoing conversations reflect Sunrise’s continued commitment to operating responsibly and supporting the long-term vitality of the Holy Cross and Lower Ninth Ward neighborhoods.
Notice Regarding Adjacent Port Activity
Sunrise Foods is aware of the Port of New Orleans’ ongoing demolition of blighted structures at the nearby former Brandon International site. This work is being conducted independently by the Port of New Orleans and its contractors and is separate from Sunrise Foods’ operations at the Alabo Street Wharf.
For questions regarding these activities or adjacent properties, please contact the Port NOLA Community Engagement Team at 504-528-3544 or alabocommunityengagement@portnola.com.
Sunrise Foods will continue to provide updates regarding its own project progress to ensure stakeholders have a clear and consistent understanding of our operations.
